Our exploration will lead us to reference everything from period woodblock prints to documented weapons housed in museums. With coffee or tea in hand, enjoy an interesting online lecture relaxed in nature yet grounded in real history.

What to expect:

  • Commentary on Photographs of 7 Antique Hidden Weapons, all at least 100 years old.

  • Documented Stories from Chinese History concerning Assassination Attempts with Hidden Weapons.

  • Anecdotes from the Mantis School, including Luo Guangyu’s unusual yet effective hidden weapon, traditional targets, methods for applying hidden weapons in combat and more.

  • Traditional Application will be briefly addressed throughout.

Alexander Petty holds a Master’s Degree in History. At age 15 he began training in a Chinese school of empty-hand and weapon fighting (螳螂拳) that had a documented history stretching back into the Qing Dynasty; this lineage included teachers who instructed units in close-combat blade infighting during WW2, and bodyguards who worked security in 1800’s China. Not merely a theorist, Alexander has successfully tested himself in full-contact environments. He invites all to enjoy exploring this art with him, be it researching the history or experiencing the application.
